In-chat add to cart
Shopify AI chatbot that adds to cart in chat
A Shopify AI chatbot that adds to cart in chat shows a real product card (image, price, matched variant) and lets the shopper add that item without leaving the conversation. FAQ bots answer text only. Sales chat finishes the buying step inside chat. Chat Squeeze syncs your catalog and supports in-chat add-to-cart on Shopify.
Why text answers are not enough
A shopper who asks for a size, color, or product still has to act. A text reply can name an item. It cannot put that item in the cart. The shopper then leaves chat, searches the store, and often drops the buying thread.
Sales chat has a different job from FAQ chat. FAQ chat explains. Sales chat shows a real product and lets the shopper add it. If the conversation ends in a paragraph, you still have a support bot. If it ends with a cart update, you have a buying step.
That split is the same one covered in Shopify AI chat for sales vs support: help before checkout is product work. Help after checkout is ticket work.
What in-chat add-to-cart requires
In-chat add-to-cart (ATC) is not a button pasted onto a FAQ reply. It needs four pieces that stay in sync with Shopify.
- Live catalog. Cards must come from products you actually sell. Stale uploads drift from price, stock, and titles.
- Variant match. If the shopper asked for a size or color, the card should open on that variant, not a default option they did not ask for.
- Card UI. Image, price, and the matched variant should be visible in chat so the shopper can confirm the item before they add it.
- Cart update. Adding the item should update the Shopify cart inside the conversation. Sending the shopper to a product page to finish the click is not in-chat ATC.
Miss one piece and the flow falls back to text. The shopper still has to hunt. Setup steps for catalog sync and going live are in the Shopify AI chat agent setup guide.
How Chat Squeeze does it
Chat Squeeze is Shopify-only AI chat for product discovery, in-chat add-to-cart, exit intent, and cart-aware upsell. It syncs your catalog so recommendations stay grounded in what you sell. It does not invent products, stock, or specs. See Shopify AI chatbot that does not invent products.
When a shopper asks for a product, Chat Squeeze can show a catalog card with image, price, and the matched variant, then add that item to cart from chat. Exit intent can open chat when a shopper hesitates. Cart-aware help can see what is already in the cart and ask before suggesting an add-on.
Install from the Shopify App Store. Common product and setup questions are on the FAQ.
When a helpdesk is still needed
In-chat add-to-cart does not replace Gorgias, Shopify Inbox, or another helpdesk for post-purchase tickets. Refunds, damaged items, missing shipments, and live-agent handoff are operations work. Keep that queue.
Use sales chat when the shopper is still choosing. Use a helpdesk when they already bought and need a ticket. Chat Squeeze tracks orders in chat, but it is not a replacement for a helpdesk queue.
Pricing model note: flat monthly, not per-resolution
Chat Squeeze uses one monthly price per plan. Limits are products and AI messages, not tickets resolved. Playground is free (up to 2,000 products, 50 AI messages total). Paid plans start at $22.99/month for Starter. Growth is $45.99, Pro is $89.99, and Enterprise is $169.99. Paid plans include a 30-day free trial. There is no per-resolution or per-conversation fee.
That billing unit fits sales chat. One shopper may ask several product questions before they add to cart. Current Chat Squeeze limits are on the pricing page.
